Customers at a restaurant in China are paying for food with a smile on their face.
That’s because they are using ‘Smile to Pay’, a new technology developed by third party payment platform, Alipay. Yum China Holdings revealed today it is using the tech at its KPRO by KFC restaurant in Hangzhou.
The process, a first in the industry, involves a facial scan and verification of a mobile number to trigger a secure payment for food and drink.
Joey Wat, President and Chief Operating Officer of Yum China, said the restaurant is “made for the digitally connected customers and integrates some of the latest technologies from mobile ordering to facial recognition payment.”
