Sky’s the limit for electric transport

Boeing is investing in a startup it believes can help deliver ‘electric air transportation’.

The investment in California’s Cuberg, which is pioneering ‘next-generation’ battery tech that could be used by the aerospace industry, was made via the Boeing HorizonX Ventures arm – specifically created to drive new innovations in aviation.

“Cuberg’s battery technology has some of the highest energy density we’ve seen in the marketplace, and its unique chemistries could prove to be a safe, stable solution for future electric air transportation,” said Steve Nordlund, vice president of Boeing HorizonX.

The move is in line with Boeing’s backing for Zunum Aero, a startup developing hybrid-electric aircrafts, which are expected to transform the travel industry in remote areas of America within the next few years.
