Shanghai to host drone race

(CHINA)

A major global event for the mobile tech industry is set to hold its first ever drone race.

Visitors to this month’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai showcase – organised by GSMA – will be able to watch this relatively new and exciting sport up close. The winner of the 2016 World Drone Prix, Luke Bannister and runner up, Maciej Poschwald, will take on China’s best in the inaugural drone racing competition.

It will be one highlight of what promises to be a landmark meeting for international stakeholders.

“We look forward to welcoming consumers from all across Shanghai back to Mobile World Congress Shanghai for our sixth year. The event is bigger and better than ever before, showing the impact of mobile in all areas of our lives, such as sports, home and fitness, entertainment, learning and beyond. And now, with our new Saturday opening hours, we’ve made it even easier to visit, for adults and children alike,” said Michael O’Hara, Chief Marketing Officer, GSMA.

MWC Shanghai will be take place from 28-30 June, at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.
