Self-driving tech shines in rainy conditions

|19 February 2017|

Driving at night in heavy rain demands concentration and is a situation self-driving technology must be able to handle.

And’s pioneering self-driving technology has proved it can do just that. It showed its system successfully navigate the streets of Mountain View, California, in a public video released last week. No human intervention was required at any point in the journey, as the tech met the challenges of real world conditions.

“These are conditions drivers encounter every single day. Any successful self-driving technology will need to address countless unpredictable situations and a wide range of driving conditions, yet few are able to today,” a blog said. “’s unique deep learning technology processes information and makes decisions more like the human brain does. Our technology allows us to scale to all kinds of challenging environments.”
