Scotland is a country with a buoyant renewable energy industry.
It features regularly in this section, as it is a place of innovation firsts when it comes to clean power. Most recently we reported the installation of record-breaking turbines at the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC) near Aberdeen.
And now the Scottish Government has announced £2 million of funding will be provided to stimulate further innovations in offshore wind.
“Our aspiration is for Scotland to be a great innovator in the offshore wind sector and this £2 million Scottish Government funding will further support the industry,” said Scotland’s Economy Secretary Keith Brown. “Offshore wind has a key role to play in achieving our ambitious energy targets and delivering a low-carbon energy system. Scotland has massive offshore wind potential and this funding will help ensure that our world-leading offshore wind sector develops successfully and sustainably.”
