Events will be held throughout 2016 to mark Scotland’s year of innovation architecture, and design.

A country famed for its pioneering credentials and ongoing contributions to science and technology, Scotland is inviting the world to its shores this year to celebrate its impressive achievements in these areas.

Malcolm Roughead, Chief Executive of VisitScotland said: “In the 2016 Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design, we have the opportunity to put Scotland on the world stage in a new and exciting way, positioning the country as an inspiring mix of traditional and cutting-edge at the same time.”

Minister for Tourism Fergus Ewing said: “From our first Year of Homecoming in 2009 to 2015’s Year of Food and Drink, the people of Scotland and our visitors have had the opportunity to enjoy our most valuable and celebrated assets. To build on this momentum, the 2016 Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design events fund will be used to deliver a series of events that take place across the country and throughout the year to celebrate all that is great about Scotland.”
