2016 was another record year for renewables, according to a new report released today by the International Energy Agency (IEA).
The report reveals that ‘almost two-thirds of net new power capacity around the world came from renewable energy’ in large part thanks to Solar PV capacity, which ‘grew by 50%, reaching over 74 GW, with China accounting for almost half of this expansion’.
By 2022 the IEA estimates renewable electricity capacity should grow by 43%.
