Scotland’s leading university for food and drink programmes has opened new lab facilities that will support the development of the wider industry.
Abertay University’s food innovation offering has been bolstered with today’s unveiling of a multi-million pound laboratory that will enable companies to test food and develop new products.
Professor Dame Anne Glover, former Chief Scientific Adviser for Scotland, opened the facilities that will further cement Abertay’s position as an international centre of food innovation.
Food analysis will be undertaken in the new Consumer Experience Laboratory, which has a dozen “climatically controlled booths for the sensory analysis of food”.
In advance of the official launch students were already busy making seaweed beer and fava bean vodka in their new surroundings. Watch this space for more pioneering products coming out of Abertay.
