(MELBOURNE)
The world’s most impactful food summit – held annually in Milan – has a scheduled stop-off in Australia next year.
Seeds&Chips, the Australia edition, will take place in Melbourne in September, 2019.
“We are so pleased to announce our presence in Australia next year. Food, technology, innovation, young people, sustainability, food security: these are just some of the themes that we’ll be working on throughout the Summit. We hope to champion these issues on a continent full of opportunity with an acute awareness of environmental issues and a strong innovation infrastructure. As such, I am particularly grateful to the Victorian Government, Food + Wine Victoria, Melbourne and Australia for their foresight and willingness to gather all that we have learned over the years as well as their recognition of the importance of the themes that we are advancing and the enormous economic opportunity that they represent. Over the years, Seeds&Chips has grown with the aim and the conviction to continue building upon the legacy of Expo 2015 by emphasizing both the importance of these subjects and the potential for economic development associated with them,” said Marco Gualtieri, Founder & Chairman of Seeds&Chips.
The Australian Government is currently working with Ernst & Young to ‘develop a vision for farming and a road map to rural innovation’.
“EY will consult widely and then develop this shared vision for the future of Australian agriculture, and describe how rural innovation will drive the sector towards this shared vision. I want all players from across agriculture, research and agtech sectors to contribute,” said David Littleproud, Australia’s Minister for Agriculture.”The report will look at how to get the most out of Australia’s rural innovation system through spurring cooperation and collaboration, attracting capital from around the globe and developing our research ideas into cutting edge technology.”
Seeds&Chips arrival in the country next year will add further momentum to accelerating the vision established by the report.
