COP24 concluded earlier this month – with an 11th hour deal struck between nations on the rule book that will deliver the ambitions of the 2015 Paris Agreement.
The landmark event makes our list of 2018 highlights. Our editor-at-large, Marc Buckley, was in Katowice covering it for us, as well as contributing to the conference in his many roles. A member of the Expert Network for the World Economic Forum, Marc also works with the World Food Programme, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and is the Germany and Austria Country Coordinator for Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project. He also leads the award-winning Alohas Eco-Center project, which is defining the future of food production. The sustainable futurist moderated sessions at COP24, including one from the Momentum for Change platform, led by the United Nations Climate Change Secretariat, which rewards ‘innovative, scalable and replicable’ examples of innovation combating climate change. It has four focus areas: Planetary Health, Climate Neutral Now, Women for Results, and Financing for Climate Friendly Investment. Watch the video below of Marc hosting the event celebrating the four 2018 winners in the Planetary Health category.
