With rapidly increasing populations, the accelerating and damaging effects of climate change, mass displacements of people, a lack of food and drink leaving hundreds of millions starving, the demand for a collective human response, which harnesses every available innovation, has never been greater.
So while achieving gender equality within STEM fields will appeal to anyone with a sense of fair play, the truth is that it is absolutely imperative woman are able to fill the roles that will ultimately sustain the world for all.
