Innovators Magazine and Knowledge4Innovation are hostng a Twitter chat today on the issue of gender inequality in STEM.
In an era when new technologies and scientific breakthroughs offer solutions to the growing number of challenges our world is facing, we need people with the skills who can use and implement them. With rapidly increasing populations, the accelerating and damaging effects of climate change, mass displacements of people, a lack of food and drink leaving hundreds of millions starving, the demand for a collective human response, which harnesses every available innovation, has never been greater.
So while achieving gender equality within STEM fields will appeal to anyone with a sense of fair play, the truth is that it is absolutely imperative woman are able to fill the roles that will ultimately sustain the world for all.
