Businesses of all sizes are being encouraged to make the Climate Neutral Now Pledge.
The initiative from the United Nations Climate Change secretariat urges participating companies and individuals to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. With measuring, reducing, and offsetting unavoidable emissions the steps signatories are asked to take. Offsetting emissions can be achieved by buying what are called UN-Certified Emissions Reductions (CERs) – financial instruments that fund projects in developing countries, like solar and wind farms.
“We all need to take personal responsibility to combat the threat of climate change. Join me in the Climate Neutral Now initiative to reduce the impact of climate change and offset carbon emissions. Help protect the ecosystems that sustain biodiversity and save the livelihoods of billions of people around the world,” said Edward Norton, a UN Goodwill Ambassador for Biodiversity.
