Dr Abir Haddad is my guest today on Inside Ideas. Dr Haddad is Director of the Institute for Legal Transformation, alumni of the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science, and teaches Modern Law of Arab States at the Institute for Private International Law at the University of Cologne, where she received her doctorate summa cum laude.
As director of the Institute for Legal Transformation, she is applying her ‘7 Steps to Legal Transformation’ methodology towards issues relating to the future and disruptive change, exploring the law of the future with a thematic focus on anticipatory legal adaptations that promote sustainable living in balance with nature, and foresightful regulation of exponential technologies for a prosperous society.
In her academic career, Dr Haddad has been selected as one of 20 scholars worldwide for the Falling Walls Foundation’s Female Science Track 2022 and won the wildcard for the Women in Leadership program. She is also a founding and faculty member of the European Club for Leaders and Sustainable Innovation program.
She tells me that she “wants lawmakers and lawyers to question what law is”. Join me and Dr Haddad on the show to learn more about what can happen when we rethink the law through the lens of a transformed future.
