Hermes has been praised for its ‘commitment to innovation’.

Innovators Magazine reported last year that the logistics company was trialling self-driving delivery robots in London – through a collaboration with Starship Technologies. And on a visit to its Newmarket depot this week, the UK Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, Matthew Hancock experienced firsthand the importance it places on tech innovation.

The West Suffolk Member of Parliament interacted with one of the Starship robots, and tried out the company’s ‘Pay and Print In Store’ device. He also got a taste of the role augmented reality might play in the industry, via Hololens technology.

“I have been thoroughly impressed by Hermes’ commitment to innovation as a part of improving the delivery experience for online shoppers across the UK. I also look forward to seeing some of the exciting solutions currently in development soon becoming a reality,” he said.
