Scotland’s social entrepreneurs are being urged to enter The Venture 2015 competition which could ultimately see them win a share of $1 million.

Chivas Regal Scotch whisky is undertaking a global search for the world’s most exciting social entrepreneurs. The Melting Pot’s Social Entrepreneurs Chat Show on 18 November will tell people more about the competition and give them the opportunity to listen to the stories of successful social entrepreneurs across Scotland.

Chivas Regal has teamed up with The Melting Pot – Scotland’s Centre for Social Innovation – and will be supporting The Social Entrepreneurs’ Chat Show. The line-up will be hosted by Claire Carpenter, founder of The Melting Pot and sharing the sofa will be three social entrepreneurs whose work focuses on the theme of great local place making.

The Venture is open to for-profit start-ups that create both financial value and a positive impact. This year, the UK finalist will receive an additional £10,000 of prize money and bespoke business mentoring as well as the opportunity to compete with social entrepreneurs from over 25 countries for a share of the $1 million fund as part of the Global Final. All finalists will also take part in The Venture’s Accelerator Week where they will receive training and business advice, as well as mentoring from some of the biggest and most influential names in business.

Claire said: “Creating social change requires insightful imagination, fully focused determination, great stakeholder and client relationships and more stamina than you can shake a stick at. These are key characteristics of successful social entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs alike. We’re delighted to be working with Chivas Regal this year to promote the experiences and learning of some of Scotland’s greatest place makers, and to link the local to the global.”
