Global Food System Challenge open for entries

The Seeding The Future Global Food System Challenge launched this month. Organised through the Institute of Food Technologists and funded by the Seeding The Future Foundation, it offers grants and prizes of up to one million US dollars annually.

“The goal of the Seeding The Future Global Food System Challenge is to inspire and support innovative, diverse, and multidisciplinary teams to create game-changing innovations that will help transform the food system,” the challenge website says.

The challenge is open to organisations developing innovations that show potential to make an impact at scale – and can benefit at least one or more of the following intersecting areas: ‘nutritious food for a healthy diet; sustainably produced; and accessible, appealing, affordable, and trusted by consumers’.

The following are eligible to compete: ‘non-profits located in any country; academic or research institutions located in any country; and early-stage or emerging U.S. or European based for-profit companies, with Seed Grants ($25,000 each)Growth Grants ($100,000 each); and Seeding The Future Grand Prizes ($250,000 each) up for grabs.

Apply by 1 August.
