Scotland will welcome the European biotech industry in October at an exhibition being held in the country’s biggest city.

The European Federation of Industrial Biotechnology and the Bioeconomy (EFIB) will take place in Glasgow, from 18 to 20 October, at the city’s Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC).

The city is already home to the internationally acclaimed Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC), which has set out its strategic vision for the industry to contribute £1.5 billion to the Scottish economy. Its commitment to internationalisation and collaboration was at the heart of the Team Scotland approach which attracted EFIB to the country.

Roger Kilburn, CEO of IBioIC said: “The UK biotechnology sector is growing year on year and Scottish companies are at the forefront of this movement. We are delighted to bring EFIB to Glasgow, providing excellent business opportunities for the Scottish economy and demonstrating how innovative we are as a nation.”
