A new European alliance has committed to putting the fight against climate change centre stage after COVID-19 to trigger a green recovery. With the backing of cross-party politicians, business leaders and NGOs, it will push for policies and investments that can accelerate the shift to a climate-neutral economy. One which is robust enough to protect biodiversity and develop sustainable food systems.

Peter Vanacker, President and CEO of Neste, one of the alliance members, said: “The coronavirus pandemic is causing unforeseen consequences to people’s health and the economy. While it is important to tackle the coronavirus, we also need to look for ways to help rebuild the world after the crisis. When we plan our path to that world, we have an opportunity to build a sustainable and resilient economy and society. Now is the time to design that vision.

He added: “Cooperation is a key driver for transformation. We are honored to be part of the alliance, working together with 180 Members of the European Parliament, Ministers, companies and other stakeholders towards green recovery after this pandemic. Together we can create a stronger and more sustainable future.”
