EU trainee scheme needs tech firms

A European traineeship programme is calling on tech companies to help enhance the skills of the next generation of game changers.

The cross-border Digital Opportunity Traineeship initiative will offer ‘6000 students and recent graduates’ hands on experience of working in frontier technologies.

“The Digital Opportunity trainees will strengthen ICT specific skills, in fields like cybersecurity, big data, quantum technology and machine learning or boost digital skills for business in areas like web design, digital marketing, and software development. The first traineeships will start in June 2018 and the interns will receive an allowance of around 500 EUR per month, for an average of five months. The pilot project will be financed by Horizon 2020 and implemented through Erasmus+,” the European Commission website states.

Tech companies are being urged to get involved and sign up to the programme.
