Earpiece translates between languages

(USA)

A smart earpiece that translates between users speaking different languages has attracted $5 million in pre-orders.

The Pilot, developed by New York startup, Waverly Labs, uses speech recognition technology to break down language barriers. It allows people talking in French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese along with English to easily understand each other. And the company announced this week it has received around 25,000 in pre-orders; shipping will begin later this year. “We’re on a journey to create a world without language barriers, Andrew Ochoa, CEO.

On the slick design of the smart device, Sergio Del Rio, Head of design engineering, added: “Pilot was designed like no other earbud. Optimizing the overall user experience is, and always will be, at the core of our research and development.”
