The world’s premier bike event pitches up in Germany next week with e-bikes set to take centre stage.
Eurobike 2016 will reveal the industry’s latest trends and unveil the leading innovations – including the most groundbreaking developments from e-bike manufacturers.
Bosch is one of the leading e-bike component suppliers and it will be showcasing its pioneering dual battery concept that uses a second battery to double the range of an e-bike. This will be ideal for cargo bikes or on e-bike models intended for long distance trips.
And the appetite for e-bikes is growing.
More than half a million were sold in the host country for this year’s event in 2015, with global sales predicted to exceed 40 million by 2023, according to Navigate Research.
Innovative companies are responding to this growing demand with bike manufacturers and component suppliers directing their time and energy into the development of new technologies.
Taiwanese urban transportation specialists Tern Bicycles and Bosch – for example – have collaborated to create a compact and powerful folding e-bike, which will debut at Eurobike 2016.
“E-bikes are fundamentally transforming the way people get around in cities,” stated Josh Hon, Founder and Team Captain of Tern. “They flatten hills, make headwinds disappear, and reduce commute times – that’s why people love them. Still, they’re nearly impossible to transport by car or local public transport. And most e-bikes are difficult to store in downtown apartments, leaving them vulnerable to theft. The Elektron solves these issues.”
And many of these e-bikes are super stylish – the Innovators team particularly likes the Meijs Motorman.
Eurobike takes place between 31 August and 4 September in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
