Countdown to Global Recycling Day

Next month’s Global Recycling Day will champion the need to turn waste into a valuable resource. Events are planned worldwide, in countries including the USA, Brazil, Nigeria, Kenya, France, Belgium, Holland and India.

“The first two Global Recycling Days were enormously successful in raising the profile of this vital issue, and last year we reached in excess of 600 million people,” said Ranjit Baxi, Founding President of the Global Recycling Foundation. “We hope that the third annual Global Recycling Day will showcase just how many of us are working together towards a more sustainable future.”

Winners will also be announced in the inaugural #RecyclingHeroes competition, recognising individuals, companies or organisations recycling materials in a clever way. A winner in each continent will receive $1000 to accelerate their initiative.

“Our #RecyclingHeroes show just how human innovation and ingenuity can reverse the tide of waste and ensure a brighter future for the planet,” added Ranjit.
