COP28 inspires hopes of a better future

Cynthia Jonströmer is at COP28, Dubai. On the board of the Harvard Business School of Sweden, Cynthia has been a business trailblazer globally for three decades. In 2021, she founded Antarez ClimateTech Capital, focusing on venture investment in climate technology; the following year establishing Regeneration Nature Alliance (RNA), focusing on using AI and technology to restore nature.

The serial entrepreneur and pioneer says the mobilisation of innovation and capital is turning #cop28 into “a conference of future action”. What she sees is fuelling her sense of optimism about the future. “I am an optimist, so it’s a #COPHalfFull for me – we can do this but it requires radical collaboration between all parties”.

COP28 Update

There is a draft text now on the table and Dr Sultan Al JaberCOP28 President, is urging countries to get behind it. “Together, we have the opportunity to deliver history again. We can send a signal to the world that multilateralism does actually work, that this process can respond to what the science is telling us, that it can deliver for the most vulnerable, and keep 1.5 within reach. We need to focus everyone on closing out the toughest issues that continue to remain. I need all parties to show even more flexibility to get us to the finish line.”

Al Jaber  adds: “The world is watching. Let’s not rest until we get this done.”
