COP23 to serve ‘climate-friendly food’

(GERMANY)

This month’s UN Climate Change Conference (COP23) in Bonn will be serving up sustainable food options to support its climate-neutral ambitions.

Organisers are implementing a range of strategies to deliver on that ambition, including making aligned food and drink products available to delegates. And with the agriculture and land use sector accounting for a quarter of emissions, according to the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), COP23 is focussing its efforts on offering local and vegetarian options – 60% of the food will be vegetarian.

“There will be visual and textual information on what every individual’s choice means for the climate,” said Dennis Winkler of UN Climate Change.
