BBOXX has featured several times on these pages for the off-grid solar solutions it is rolling out across regions of sub-Saharan Africa and beyond. Now the London-headquartered company is combining energy services with pay-as-you-go cooking options.
Toxic indoor cooking environments result in the deaths of four million annually in Africa, as harmful fuels turn homes into death traps. The BBOXX Cook initiative being unveiled in Rwanda today ‘provides clean cooking services for both urban and rural areas through LPG and biogas solutions’.
“Three billion people worldwide lack access to clean cooking solutions. We are steadfast in our mission to use technology to transform lives and unlock potential and BBOXX Cook is fundamental to helping to meet UN Sustainable Development Goals. We are looking forward to working with additional partners to scale up and deliver on our mission,” said Mansoor Hamayun, CEO and Co-founder, BBOXX.
The Energy and Environment Partnership is helping to fund the programme: a ‘multi-donor fund providing grant and catalytic financing to innovative clean energy projects, technologies and businesses’.
