A multi-million pound circular economy fund is offering Scotland’s energy sector – old and new – the opportunity to advance their sustainable ambitions.
We reported the launch of Scotland’s £18 million Circular Economy Investment Fund this summer; an initiative led by Zero Waste Scotland, supported by the Scottish Government and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). And now the country’s SME energy firms and their larger supply chains are being urged to take advantage of it.
“Scotland’s energy sector is an important contributor to Scotland’s economic development, and has long been at the forefront of innovation. This is an opportunity to gain financial support for transformative projects that will help bolster a more resilient and sustainable industry in the future, as well as contributing to Scotland’s growing circular economy,” said Iain Gulland, Chief Executive, Zero Waste Scotland.
It is the latest example of the country’s ongoing promotion of sustainable practices. Innovators Magazine named Scotland one of the leading circular economy nations in May – and its leaders picked up the Circular Government Award at this year’s Circulars.
