The California Energy Commission will decide this week if the majority of new homes built in California should be mandated to include solar panels from 2020.
California has plenty of sun to take advantage of, and added the most solar electric capacity in the US last year, according to a recent report from the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA).
Wednesday’s vote by the Commission is expected to back the plans, which would make California the first state in the country to do so.
