California in 100% clean power pledge

California’s Assembly has backed a bill to transition the State to 100% clean power by 2045 – and increase the 2030 target from 50% to 60%.

Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr now has until the end of September to sign the bill into law and make California a great example to the world of renewable energy action and ambition.

“This is a pivotal moment for California, for the country, and the world. While Donald Trump abandons reality by ignoring the climate crisis and the incredible growth of  clean energy, California is stepping up to lead the transition to a 100% clean energy economy. Now, one of the world’s largest economies and millions of homes and business will be powered by 100% by clean, renewable energy by 2045, if not sooner,” said Michael Brune, Executive Director of the Sierra Club.
