Bright future for electric cars

(CHINA)

A seven seater electric SUV will roll off the production line in China later this year.

Electric car startup NIO unveiled its ES8 model at this month’s Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition.

The vehicle has stood up to rigorous testing in the searing heat of Melbourne, and the rather chillier -22 degrees Fahrenheit conditions of Inner Mongolia.

Speaking at the exhibition, NIO Founder and Chairman, William Li, said: “Today we unveiled our new production vehicle, the NIO ES8 to the China market. It is another statement of our vision and technical and manufacturing capabilities. It is a best-in-class product that showcases what is possible with electric vehicles. I am proud of our relentless focus on vision and action. From track to road, NIO continues to achieve major milestones every year.”

The ES8 will be available at the start of next year, following on its official launch in late 2017.
