Boeing invests in autonomous flight

(USA)

Boeing HorizonX Ventures is investing in a startup it believes can help ‘shape the future of safe autonomous flight’.

Kittyhawk, an early stage company pioneering Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Software, impressed Boeing HorizonX Ventures because its tech will enable the creation of a UAS Traffic Management System (UTM), which will allow ‘piloted and autonomous air vehicles to safely coexist’.

Brian Schettler, managing director of Boeing HorizonX Venture, said: “Kittyhawk is poised to help us shape the future of safe autonomous flight. We are excited to explore new capabilities made possible through foresight, expertise and a focus on holistic solutions that support the safe integration of unmanned systems into the national airspace.”

It is the latest investment in the future of travel by Boeing HorizonX Ventures, which is also backing the development of  hybrid-electric aircrafts set to transform regional transport systems in America.
