BK prepares meatless option

Fast food giant Burger King (BK) has announced plans to introduce the meat free Impossible Whopper Burger into its American stores this year. Using plant-based burgers from Impossible Foods, the iconic chain is following a trend, inspired by younger consumers, for more meat-free meal options.

We have run a number of stories on these pages, and in several editions, about the rapid growth of the clean meat, plant-based food markets, and the fact that going vegan is the biggest action individuals can take to minimise their impact on the planet. The move by BK is another step in the journey towards a sustainable food future.

Read the article Bruce Friedrich, the founder of the Good Food Institute, wrote for us earlier this year for a flavour of the transformation taking place in the food industry.
