Biotechs tackle cyber threat

Cyberbiosecurity will be one of the hot topics examined in our upcoming special biotech edition.

Innovators Magazine reported last month that the the lead author of a new paper on the issue, Professor Jean Peccoud, from Colorado State University’s (CSU) Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, was urging industry stakeholders to get up to speed with the challenges created by the digital age.

The authors of the paper said the biotech community, once aware of the potential problems, “can begin to implement safeguards within their own work environments, and work with regulators to develop policies to prevent cyberbiosecurity breaches.”

In a Q&A with Innovators Magazine, Professor Peccoud talks about the range of cyberbiosecurity risks that exist and explains the steps companies can take to protect themselves.

You can read that interview later this month in an edition being produced for the annual conference of the Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC) being held in Glasgow.

This year’s event – Building on Success – takes place on 25 and 26 January 2018, at the Technology & Innovation Centre, Glasgow.
