Off-grid solar developer BBOXX was named the Zayed Sustainability Prize winner in the Energy category at an awards bash in Abu Dhabi this week.
Featured many times on these pages, the company’s pay-as-you-go plug and play solar devices, available to users for around £3-5 per month, are rapidly improving energy access across Africa, having already positively impacted the lives of over 800,000 people.
“We are honoured to have been recognised in this way by the Zayed Sustainability Prize. It is a testament to way we are making a meaningful difference to people’s lives around the world. The recognition is also practical and the prize funds will further accelerate our ability to provide reliable energy to communities in an off-grid setting,” said Mansoor Hamayun, CEO of BBOXX.
BBOXX receives US$600,000 for being one of the winners.
