‘Beer from Surplus Bread’

There can be few better ways of dealing with waste bread than converting it to beer.

That’s exactly what Toast Ale has been doing in the UK – making beer from surplus bread. All the profits go to a charity called Feedback, which works to eradicate food waste.

And with nearly half of all bread wasted, innovative solutions like these are vital.

“We hope to put ourselves out of business. The day there’s no waste bread is the day Toast Pale Ale can no longer exist,” said founder Tristram Stuart.

A funding campaign is now underway to take it to the US.
