Autonomous cars to get road-smart

(FRANCE)

Renault and Sanef – a leading motorway operator in France – are working together to develop lines of communication between autonomous cars and road infrastructure.

The pair are testing new technologies at toll barrier road crossings as they seek to support the ultimate goal of self-driving vehicles: to boost road safety and ‘reach zero fatality’.

“Maximising safety for drivers, passengers and others with autonomous cars requires several stakeholders in both government and the private sector working together, each bringing unique expertise.” said Renault’s Mathieu Lips. “Our goal is to work with Sanef to develop advances in safety and the right solutions to bring as soon as possible to customers the most comfortable travel in autonomous drive without interruption.”
