Apple to release AR glasses in 2017?

There is a rumour that Apple and Zeiss are working together on augmented reality (AR) optics.

Referring to a conversation with an unnamed employee at Zeiss, respected tech blogger Robert Scobble said on Facebook: “A Zeiss employee confirmed the rumors that Apple and Carl Zeiss AG are working on a light pair of augmented reality/mixed reality glasses that may be announced this year.”

Apple CEO Tim Cook has praised AR technology on a number of occasions and the company has made significant investments in promising AR startups, so this would be in line with the direction of travel. Watch this space.
