Ground fleet vehicles at Stuttgart Airport are using fuel made from waste and residues.
All vehicles, apart from those that are electrified, have begun switching to Neste MY Renewable Diesel, as the aviation hub seeks to cut its CO2 emissions.
“The state airport is the first transportation company in Baden-Württemberg that extensively fuels its vehicle fleet with renewable diesel. The climate-friendly fuel adds to the targeted support of e-mobility and alternative drives on the ground and in the air. This is another important step for climate and health protection”, says Winfried Hermann, Minister of Transport of Baden-Württemberg and Board Chairman of Flughafen Stuttgart GmbH.
It is Neste’s latest entry into the industry. Last week we announced it had agreed a partnership deal with Genève Aéroport to supply it with MY Renewable Jet Fuel and support the Swiss airport’s plans to source at least 1% of its jet fuel consumption from renewable sources by the end of next year.
These moves support the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) goal to ensure all growth in aviation from 2020 is carbon-neutral.
