Adventurists could soon be taking to a solar-powered Route 66 highway.
A partnership project between the Missouri department of transport and Solar Roadways – a pioneer in solar panelling – will initially focus on a small stretch of road which will incorporate solar light to aid direction and also send energy to the grid.
These are the first steps in transforming the historic route into a sustainable road for future generations.
